Our Masters Pre-sessional course will give you the language level and academic knowledge you need to study at postgraduate level.
Pre-Masters Course
The main focus of the course is a 2,000 word research methodology report, followed by a 7,000 word major project in a specialism of the student’s own choosing. The course will cover; the research proposal, thesis statements, research methodologies, recording/reporting results, report structure, literature reviews, statistical analysis, primary/secondary data collection/analysis, sampling frames, qualitative/quantitative triangulation etc. Students also follow an academic module in their specialism according to the course they intend to follow at university. This will be taught by a specialist tutor and provide the necessary subject content and theory to enable the student to fulfil their project objectives. Students may also pay for extra tutorial support with an academic tutor in their specialist field, where available. The academic tutor will offer advice on subject content, research methodology and how to structure reports. Students are taught a range of EAP study skills, including research methodology, preparing for lectures, note taking, working in teams, preparing seminars, designing presentations, structuring assignments, referencing, process writing etc.

English for Academic Purposes
At the end of the course, students will receive an ETC Award as listed below depending on the nature and achievement of their course of study. They will also receive an end of course report which will show Pass, Merit or Distinction criteria according to the performance of the student in the project and assignments. This will also record their perceived English level based on all internal and external tests completed during the course.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirement for the Masters Pre-sessional is level 5, which includes a UK Degree or NARIC equivalent qualifications.

For students taking a 24 week course (2 terms) IELTS 4.5 is required.
