ETC’s Aeronautical Engineering Diploma

The ETC Aeronautical Engineering Diploma is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills to follow an Aeronautical Engineering degree or follow a career path in Aeronautical Engineering.
The ETC Level 5 Unit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills to follow an Aeronautical engineering degree or follow a career path in engineering. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to follow an Aeronautical Engineering degree or follow a career path in Aeronautical Engineering.

The 24 week course is a 120 Credit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering, including 1 English modules and 8 Aeronautical Engineering modules. Each Aeronautical Engineering unit has 60 hours of teaching and 90 hours per unit of personal study time. The ETC ALevel 5 Unit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering consists of a range of Aeronautical Engineering subjects divided into 3 terms, each 8 weeks long. There are 6 start dates throughout the year.

This covers 30 Lessons a week (1 Lesson = 45 Minutes) = 22.5 hours per week.

Course Content

Students must already have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6 or equivalent / CEFR B2 in all language skills. They will study the following subjects:

  • Research Project
  • Further Mathematics
  • Professional Engineering Management (Pearson-set)
  • Aircraft Propulsion Principles and Technology
  • Aircraft Gas Turbine Engine Design and Performance
  • Avionic Systemsn
  • Advanced Turbine Rotary Wing Aircraft Mechanical and Flight Systems

English for Academic Purposes

Following the EAP course will greatly enhance student ability to participate in higher education.  Students will learn the appropriate skills and vastly improve their chance of gaining a higher IELTS score.

Following the Pre-sessional EAP course provides an average progression rate of a 1.5 IELTS score increase within 12 weeks. This compares to Pre-foundation English courses average rate of a 0.5 score increase in 12 weeks.

The college has a university counsellor who provides free regular tutorials to progress students’ applications to university.

Upon completion of the course you will receive a Level 5 Unit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. This is equivalent to 240 credits.

This course is designed for students wishing to study Mechanical and related subjects at undergraduate level at a UK-based University. The course prepares students for progression to year 2 of a degree, RQF level 6.

Entry Requirements
Students must be at least 19 years of age.
Students must have at least IELTS 6 or equivalent / CEFR B2 to be accepted onto the Level 5 Unit Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

Start Dates
There are 5 entry points each year, placed at the start of each 10 week term.
